Rosewood Amsterdam is a new cultural and hospitality icon in the heart of the UNESCO‑listed Canal District, housed in the meticulously restored former Palace of Justice overlooking the Prinsengracht. Opened in 2025, the hotel marks Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ first property in the Netherlands and reinterprets historic grandeur through a refined and contemporary hospitality lens. The interiors were designed by Studio Piet Boon, while Kentie Architecten served as supervising architect for the adaptive reuse and restoration process. Studio Piet Boon
Studio Piet Boon’s design philosophy for Rosewood Amsterdam honours the building’s layered history, balancing preserved architectural features with modern sophistication. Original stone flooring, pleated fabric headboards inspired by judicial robes, and painted woodgrain doors are juxtaposed with bronze accents, natural materials, and bespoke furnishings that evoke Dutch craftsmanship and hospitality. Across 134 uniquely designed rooms and suites—including five signature Houses—the palette of warm neutrals, soft greys, and inky blues reflects the shifting Amsterdam skies, creating spaces that feel both elegant and welcoming.
