    Description

The new Boys Hostel and Academic Block are conceived as environments where living and learning are seamlessly integrated. Guided by the belief that spaces influence behaviour and growth, the project prioritizes comfort, climate responsiveness, and social interaction while supporting academic focus and everyday life on campus.

The Boys Hostel is rooted in contextual materiality, using Dholpur stone and jalis to balance light, privacy, and thermal comfort. These elements shape façades and shared spaces, creating shaded edges and breathable interiors. Environmental studies informed the planning strategy, with careful consideration of sun movement and prevailing wind patterns to optimize daylight, shade, and airflow. Naturally ventilated common corridors, lobbies, and breeze ways connect indoor and outdoor spaces, demonstrating passive energy optimisation without compromising comfort or usability.

Together, the residential and academic components are planned as complementary parts of a cohesive campus fabric, supporting both individual retreat and collective engagement.

Architecture & Interiors Rooted in Climate and Community

The Boys Hostel is organized to activate everyday movement through well-lit corridors, informal study corners, and shared lounges, turning circulation spaces into areas for interaction and collaboration. Perforated screens regulate sunlight and views while maintaining privacy, and the porous layout ensures continuous airflow through common areas. The architectural language emphasizes durability, restraint, and climatic intelligence, allowing the building to perform efficiently over time.

Within the Academic Block, the newly developed Robotics Lab introduces a contrasting spatial character. Designed with a raw, industrial aesthetic, the lab features exposed ceilings, metal finishes, and flexible planning to support evolving modes of learning and experimentation. The honest expression of materials creates an adaptable, high-performance environment that encourages innovation and hands-on engagement.

Together, the hostel and academic facilities create a balanced campus setting—one that supports rest and routine alongside inquiry and creativity. Through climate-responsive design, material sensitivity, and people-focused planning, the project establishes an environment that nurtures learning, connection, and long-term adaptability.
