The New South Wales Government has signed a major development agreement with Mirvac to transform the former Sydney Fish Market site and the surrounding foreshore of Blackwattle Bay into a dynamic mixed-use precinct along Sydney Harbour in Sydney.
The masterplan, led by Woods Bagot in collaboration with OCULUS, presents a forward-looking vision that integrates the new Sydney Fish Market with housing, commercial spaces, and expansive public areas. The project reflects a broader commitment to #UrbanRenewal and sustainable waterfront development in Sydney.
According to Paul Scully, Minister for Planning and Public Space, Mirvac’s appointment represents a major milestone in advancing the renewal of Blackwattle Bay, unlocking opportunities for vibrant public spaces and well-located housing within the city’s evolving urban landscape.
The redevelopment is expected to deliver around 1,400 new homes, including a 26-storey student-living tower operated by Scape Australia by The Living Company. In addition to residential development, the precinct will feature commercial and retail spaces alongside more than three hectares of public open space, strengthening the connection between the city, its waterfront, and surrounding communities.
Overall, the project demonstrates how integrated #UrbanPlanning and #Architecture can transform underutilized waterfront sites into thriving, future-ready districts that support long-term urban growth and livability.
