Dope Bakehouse is a standout culinary and design destination in North Vancouver, Canada, brought to life by Sml Studio Architecture in collaboration with owner Jess Reno and the team behind Nemesis Coffee. This 252 m² space reimagines the bakery as a sensory world where architecture, food, and atmosphere come together in playful harmony. Rather than treating interior design as an afterthought, the space directly references the craft of baking with forms and textures inspired by dough, pastries, and kitchen flow. Step inside and you’re greeted by sweeping, curved walls that echo the folds of viennoiserie, a coffee counter “poured” like melted butter, and a translucent orange curtain that drapes like sugar glaze from the ceiling. Rounded edges, soft finishes, and tactile epoxy floors all blur the line between culinary production and interior experience while celebrating utility and delight in equal measure.
