Global architecture and design firm HOK has marked a significant milestone with the ribbon cutting of its newly relocated St. Louis studio at 701 Market Street. The move reinforces the firm’s enduring connection to downtown St. Louis—the city where it was founded more than seven decades ago—and signals a renewed long-term investment in the urban core.
The opening ceremony was led by HOK Co-CEO and St. Louis Design Principal Eli Hoisington, who reflected on how the new studio embodies the firm’s values, culture, and forward-looking vision. He emphasized that the space has been intentionally designed to bring together talent, emerging ideas, and long-standing partnerships within an environment that fosters innovation, mentorship, and meaningful community impact.
Strengthening Downtown Investment
The event also featured remarks from St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer and representatives from Greater St. Louis, Inc., underscoring the broader significance of sustained downtown investment. Civic and regional leaders highlighted how corporate reinvestment in the city center plays a vital role in driving collaboration, economic growth, and long-term urban vitality.
By choosing to remain in the heart of the city, HOK reinforces confidence in downtown St. Louis as a hub for business, design excellence, and community engagement.
A Workplace Designed for Collaboration and Wellbeing
Following the ribbon cutting, guests toured the newly designed studio, developed by HOK’s interdisciplinary team to support collaboration, focused work, and employee wellbeing for its 165 staff members.
The office features panoramic city views, technology-enabled work environments, and flexible spaces tailored to encourage creativity and connection. The layout balances open collaboration zones with quiet, dedicated areas—reflecting contemporary workplace design principles centered on adaptability and human experience.
The new studio exemplifies HOK’s people-first philosophy, integrating workplace innovation with a deep-rooted commitment to St. Louis. As urban centers across the United States redefine their post-pandemic identities, HOK’s investment stands as a statement of confidence in the enduring value of downtown environments.
