As the Venice Biennale Architettura draws to a close next month, GXN Architects are taking a moment to look back and share insights from their transformative journey as participants. Through their Venice Biennale Field Notes, the team invites audiences to retrace their experiences and explore the layered narratives that shaped their contribution.
The first issue in the series takes readers to the Cuban region of Matanzas, a place where cultural heritage, art, and architecture converge. This story unfolds through the eyes of Henry Glogau and Aleksander Guldager Kongshaug, founders of COLLAB by Glogau Kongshaug, who collaborated with renowned artist Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons, Founder and Director of Ríos Intermitentes.
Developed under the theme Local Resource / Collective Knowledge, the project represents a rich network of collaboration, featuring partners from The Royal Danish Academy – CITA (Centre for Information Technology and Architecture), Ramboll, and Università Iuav di Venezia.
Through their collective exploration, the team highlights how architecture can serve as a bridge between local knowledge and global dialogue — transforming creative exchanges into meaningful, place-based design.
