Groundbreaking for KERA’s New Headquarters Signals a New Era for Public Media in North Texas

A major milestone in public media infrastructure has been marked with the groundbreaking of a new headquarters for KERA – North Texas Public Broadcasting. In collaboration with Corgan, the project reflects a forward-looking vision that blends storytelling, innovation, and community connection in one integrated space.

A Vision Beyond a Traditional Workplace

The upcoming facility is designed to go beyond conventional office space. Instead, it aims to serve as a dynamic hub where media professionals, creators, and communities can interact seamlessly.

By prioritizing openness and accessibility, the new headquarters will enable audiences across North Texas to engage more deeply with public broadcasting content. The design emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and inclusivity-key pillars in the evolution of modern media environments.

Supporting the Future of Public Media

As public media continues to evolve, organizations like KERA – North Texas Public Broadcasting play a critical role in fostering informed communities and shaping regional narratives.

The new headquarters is being developed to support the people behind the stories—journalists, producers, and creators—while also enhancing the audience experience. This aligns with broader trends in media where physical spaces are being reimagined to strengthen storytelling and audience engagement.

    Collaboration Driving Architectural Excellence

The project brings together leading expertise across architecture, construction, and project management. Alongside Corgan, key partners include Gardiner & Theobald LLC and STO Building Group.

This collaborative approach highlights how multidisciplinary partnerships are essential in delivering complex civic infrastructure that meets both functional and cultural objectives.

A Hub for Media, Innovation, and Community Connection

Once completed, the new KERA headquarters is expected to stand as a landmark for public media in the region. It will serve not only as a production facility but also as a community-centric space that encourages dialogue, creativity, and innovation.

The project underscores the growing importance of designing spaces that bridge the gap between media organizations and the communities they serve.

    Strategic Significance

This development reflects a broader shift in how media organizations approach infrastructure:

    • Moving from isolated workspaces to community-integrated hubs
    • Enhancing audience interaction and accessibility
    • Supporting next-generation storytelling formats
    • Reinforcing the role of public media in regional development

As media consumption patterns evolve, investments in such forward-thinking spaces will play a crucial role in shaping the future of public broadcasting.
