PMB, a leading healthcare real estate developer, along with El Camino Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, has celebrated the steel topping-out ceremony for the upcoming El Camino Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Sunnyvale, California. The 64,000-square-foot, 52-bed inpatient facility marks a significant step toward expanding rehabilitation services across Santa Clara County.

A Major Construction Milestone
The topping-out event—a symbolic tradition in construction—featured the placement of an evergreen tree and a U.S. flag atop the structure. Team members signed the final steel beam before it was hoisted into place, signifying the completion of the building’s structural phase and the dedication of the project’s workforce.
Designed for Comprehensive Rehabilitation Care
Scheduled to open in spring 2027, the hospital will offer 52 all-private rooms, each equipped with full bathrooms and specialty care accommodations. The facility will focus on recovery programs for patients with strokes, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and other serious conditions. It will integrate advanced therapeutic technologies, research-backed treatment methods, and patient-centered design to promote healing and independence.

State-of-the-Art Facilities and Patient Experience
Key features include a secured brain injury unit, interdisciplinary therapy gyms, and a therapeutic courtyard designed for mobility training. A transitional living apartment will allow patients to practice daily activities before returning home. El Camino Health will oversee ancillary services such as radiology, laboratory support, and managed care contracting.
Strategic Growth for Silicon Valley Healthcare
“This facility strengthens El Camino Health’s position as Silicon Valley’s healthcare partner of choice,” said Andreu Reall, Vice President of Strategy at El Camino Health. PMB’s SVP of Development, Nolan Weinberg, added, “We’re proud to create spaces that expand access to high-quality rehabilitation care.”

Collaboration and Expertise
The project team includes PMB as developer, Material Design Architects as architect, and Truebeck as design-builder, combining deep expertise in healthcare construction and patient-centered environments.
