Cole Johns, IIDA, NCIDQ, RID-NC has announced a new chapter in his professional journey, joining LS3P as Senior Interior Designer. The move follows four years at Craig Gaulden Davis, where he contributed to a variety of design initiatives while building expertise through collaboration, mentorship, and creative problem-solving.

The transition reflects the continued movement of experienced design professionals into specialized sectors where human-centered design and innovation are increasingly shaping the future of the built environment.

A Career Move Built on Experience and Growth

During his tenure at Craig Gaulden Davis, Johns played a role in projects that emphasized teamwork, creativity, and client-focused design solutions. Reflecting on his experience, he highlighted the importance of collaborative studio culture and the mentorship opportunities that contributed to his professional development.

His time with the firm helped strengthen both his technical and creative capabilities, preparing him for expanded responsibilities in his new role.

Joining LS3P During a Period of Industry Transformation

As Senior Interior Designer at LS3P, Johns will focus on projects within the K-12 education and healthcare sectors. Both industries are experiencing significant transformation as organizations seek environments that support wellbeing, accessibility, flexibility, and enhanced user experiences.

Educational institutions are increasingly investing in modern learning spaces, while healthcare providers continue to prioritize patient-centered environments that improve comfort, efficiency, and outcomes.

The Growing Importance of Human-Centered Design

Interior design has become a strategic component of architecture and facility planning, particularly in education and healthcare settings. Designers are expected to create spaces that not only meet functional requirements but also positively influence the experiences of students, educators, patients, and healthcare professionals.

By combining aesthetics, functionality, and user-focused design principles, interior designers play a crucial role in shaping environments that support productivity, wellness, and long-term value.

Collaboration and Knowledge-Sharing Drive Industry Success

Career transitions such as this highlight the importance of continuous learning and collaboration within the architecture and design industry. The exchange of ideas, mentorship, and professional development opportunities remain essential for fostering innovation and advancing design excellence.

As firms continue to tackle increasingly complex projects, experienced professionals bring valuable perspectives that help organizations deliver impactful and future-ready solutions.
