The Museum of Royal Kingdoms of India (MORKI), designed by INI Design Studio, envisions a cultural landmark where history and architecture converge to tell the story of Bharatโs unity in diversity. Set within the Statue of Unity precinct in Kevadiya, Gujarat, the proposed 15-acre museum celebrates Indiaโs royal legacies and their unification under the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Honoring Indiaโs Timeless Heritage
MORKI serves as a monumental tribute to Indiaโs princely states and their integral role in shaping a united nation. The project is conceptualized as a journey through time, tracing Indiaโs transformation from its regal past to the collective identity forged through independence and integration.
Operational Details: Architectural and Experiential Design
Drawing inspiration from Indiaโs majestic forts and palaces, the museumโs design unfolds through immersive thematic galleries โ Indian Royalty, The Story of Integration, and The Hall of Unity. Each gallery offers a multisensory experience, combining historical interpretation with architectural symbolism to narrate Indiaโs story of transformation.
Sustainability and Ecological Integration
Rooted in a sustainable design ethos, MORKI harmonizes with its natural surroundings through native landscaping, water channels, and retention ponds that form a self-sustaining ecological network. The museum incorporates daylight-optimized orientation, dry stone cladding for thermal efficiency, and renewable energy systems, reinforcing INI Design Studioโs commitment to responsible architecture.
Strategic Significance: Architecture as Cultural Storytelling
Beyond its physical form, MORKI embodies architecture as a medium of national storytelling โ honoring Indiaโs past while shaping its progressive and unified future. It stands as a living symbol of resilience, heritage, and sustainability, echoing the enduring vision of unity that defines modern India.
