Balancing Technology and Human Connection: MillerKnoll’s Sociotechnical Design Insight Series

As workplaces become increasingly digitized, the challenge for organizations is no longer adopting technology—but ensuring it enhances rather than diminishes human connection. MillerKnoll’s upcoming Insight Series session addresses this critical intersection, exploring how sociotechnical design principles can foster collaboration, empathy, and trust within evolving work environments.

    The Role of Sociotechnical Design

Sociotechnical design is a multidisciplinary approach that emphasizes the alignment between technology systems and the social needs of people. In modern workplaces, it ensures that technological innovations—whether digital platforms or AI-driven tools—support human interaction and well-being instead of isolating teams behind screens.

    Operational Details: MillerKnoll’s Upcoming Session

MillerKnoll will host two sessions on October 22, at 8 a.m. BST and 10 a.m. ET, led by sociologist Caitlin Begg. The discussions will explore strategies for designing both physical and digital environments that encourage authentic communication, cross-functional collaboration, and a deeper sense of belonging among employees.

Strategic Significance: Designing the Future Workplace

The initiative underscores MillerKnoll’s commitment to reimagining the workplace as a dynamic ecosystem where human connection and technology coexist harmoniously. Through sociotechnical design thinking, organizations can cultivate more inclusive, adaptive, and purpose-driven workspaces—paving the way for a future where technology amplifies human potential.
