In a groundbreaking initiative that bridges architecture, technology, and sustainability, the Innovative Building Envelope (BIPV) research team of SUPSI – Institute of Applied Sustainability to the Built Environment (ISAAC) has unveiled an upcoming documentary series that sheds light on how photovoltaic systems are transforming contemporary architecture.
Developed within the framework of the European SEAMLESS-PV Project and produced in collaboration with ISPLORA, a partner of CNAPPC, the series explores the creative and technological potential of solar integration in modern buildings.
Through a trilogy of films, the project features exclusive interviews and insights from three of the world’s most influential architecture studios — RPBW Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Shigeru Ban Architects & Jean de Gastines Architectes, and Foster + Partners. Each episode captures how these firms are rethinking design paradigms by weaving photovoltaic innovation into their architectural visions.
By blending scientific research with cinematic storytelling, the project highlights the ongoing evolution of solar-powered design, emphasizing both its aesthetic value and environmental significance.
The first episode of this compelling documentary series will be released soon, offering a rare glimpse into how the masters of architecture envision a future where buildings don’t just consume energy — they generate it.
