Safdie Architects’ Sky Habitat continues to redefine the future of high-density living. The project received two major honors — the 10-Year Award of Excellence and the Overall 10-Year Award — at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) International Conference 2025 in Toronto. The event, themed “From the Ground Up: Tall Buildings and City-Making,” celebrated architectural innovation shaping urban life globally.
Representing Safdie Architects, Senior Partner Jaron Lubin attended the conference, which gathered global leaders in architecture and city planning. Sky Habitat, originally designed in collaboration with Charu Kokate and CapitaLand, was recognized for its visionary approach to creating human-centered, sustainable communities within vertical environments.
Design and Innovation
Located in Singapore, Sky Habitat’s design emphasizes connectivity, open space, and communal living — transforming the experience of high-rise living into one of openness and community. Its interlinked towers, sky bridges, and landscaped terraces embody the philosophy of “Vertical Urbanism,” integrating nature into the heart of urban density.
A Decade of Influence
Ten years since its completion, Sky Habitat stands as a global reference point for balancing architectural innovation with human livability. Its continued recognition highlights how thoughtful design can address urban density challenges while nurturing well-being and community.
A New Chapter for CTBUH
The 2025 conference also marked a pivotal transition for CTBUH, which announced its rebranding to the Council for Vertical Urbanism (CVU). The new name reflects a broader mission: to shape cities not just by the height of their towers, but by how interconnected, sustainable, and humane they can become.
