Kimpton Las Mercedes is a landmark hotel project in the UNESCOโlisted Colonial City of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, designed by MoneoโฏBrock Architects. Set within one of the oldest urban fabrics in the Americas, the 130โroom boutique hotel reimagines a historic block with a sensitive architectural approach that bridges colonial heritage with modern hospitality. MoneoโฏBrockโs design champions preservation while enhancing the urban life of this vibrant historic district. Archilovers
The project carefully preserves original facades and the central courtyard, which retains its native vegetation and becomes the heart of the hotelโs public life. New elevated structures, additional courtyards, and open galleries maximize natural light and cross ventilation, creating a tranquil atmosphere rooted in its tropical setting. Rooms open onto these lush courtyards, with some featuring private terraces and jacuzzis, while rooftop amenities include a pool, gym, and panoramic views of both the Caribbean Sea and the historic cityscape
