Located in Chattarpur, Delhi, Ananta House by Morphogenesis stands as a compelling exploration of geometry, materiality, and climate intelligence. Inspired by the infinity symbol and integrated with the spatial logic of a courtyard, the residence unfolds as a sculptural form defined by sweeping curves and a continuous roofline.
Concept and Spatial Design
The architectural concept draws from fluid geometry, translating the infinity loop into a built form that feels both dynamic and grounded. The courtyard acts as an organizing element, anchoring the spatial experience while enabling natural ventilation and light penetration-key aspects in contemporary residential design.
Brick as a Dynamic Material
The façade reinterprets traditional brick architecture through depth, texture, and intricate detailing. Techniques such as corbelling, recessed courses, brick bands, and jaalis shape the curvilinear envelope, creating a rich visual language. This layered articulation transforms brick from a conventional material into a medium of expressive architectural storytelling.
Climate-Responsive Strategy
A strong emphasis on passive design principles defines the project’s environmental performance. The south and west façades incorporate three-dimensional brick treatments for self-shading, reducing heat gain, while the north façade opens to softer daylight. This thoughtful orientation reflects a nuanced understanding of climate-responsive architecture in the Indian context.
Precision Through Craft and Experimentation
Extensive on-site mock-ups were instrumental in refining the complex brick patterns and ensuring consistency across curved surfaces. By working within standard brick modules, the design achieves both precision and efficiency. Fenestrations are seamlessly integrated into the masonry, maintaining a balance between privacy, rhythm, and performance.
Strategic Significance
Ananta House exemplifies the evolving language of Architecture in India—where tradition meets innovation. By merging material intelligence, geometric exploration, and sustainability, the project sets a benchmark for contemporary residential design rooted in local context.
