House Beautiful has unveiled its inaugural “Whole Home” project in Texas, located in Austin’s scenic Deep Eddy neighborhood. This tri-level, 3,800-square-foot residence has been envisioned as a “grown-up, tree-top social club”, reflecting both playful sophistication and functional design.
Design & Collaboration:
The home features a triangular kitchen island and uniquely angled living spaces that encourage conversation and social interaction. Designed collaboratively by eight interior designers alongside the House Beautiful editorial team, the project brings together creative talent from Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and beyond. Sara Malek Barney of Bandd/Design, who also designed the kitchen and bathrooms, played a pivotal role in shaping the home’s aesthetic.
Construction & Timeline:
Constructed by Katie Hastings Architecture and Villani & Graham, the home was completed in just eight months, demonstrating efficiency without compromising on quality or design integrity.
Public Engagement & Charity:
Public tours are scheduled for October 16–19 and 23–25, with proceeds benefiting Friends of the Children-Austin. Following the tours, select décor items will be auctioned for charity, while other sponsor-provided furnishings will be returned. The home will subsequently be listed on the market.
Upcoming Feature:
House Beautiful will provide an in-depth feature on the Austin “Whole Home” in its November/December 2025 issue, offering readers a closer look at the collaborative design approach and innovative interior concepts.
