Students from the 7th semester of the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Faculty of Architecture visited Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) in London during a project studio conducted by Prof. Dr. Ayşe Şentürer. The visit offered emerging architects a rare opportunity to observe one of the world’s most influential design studios from the inside.
A Valuable Academic–Industry Exchange
The visit was organized as part of ITU’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the connection between architectural education and professional practice. Through this initiative, students gain exposure to global studios shaping contemporary architecture.
Behind-the-Scenes Access to Leading Design Processes
During the guided tour, students explored ZHA’s office and model workshop, witnessing the dynamic design development workflow. They observed how digital concepts are transformed into physical models, offering insight into the studio’s hybrid approach to creativity and technical precision.
Impact on Architectural Learning and Professional Growth
Experiencing the inner workings of a renowned practice helps students contextualize their academic learning within real-world design environments. Such visits enhance their understanding of innovation, collaboration, and production techniques fundamental to modern architecture.
Acknowledging Contributors to the Initiative
The faculty expressed appreciation to Gizem Muhtaroglu for facilitating the visit and supporting ITU’s commitment to nurturing future architects. Her coordination contributed to an experience that will positively influence the students’ professional development.
