In the heart of Mumbai, Turner House emerges as a symbol of balance between the past and the future. Designed in collaboration with Proctor & Matthews Architects (UK) and Design Studio: Nisar Shaikh, this landmark mixed-use development reinterprets heritage architecture through a lens of modern sustainability and contextual sensitivity.
Celebrating Mumbai’s Architectural Legacy
Turner House occupies a historic site anchored by a 19th-century bungalow, carefully restored and transformed into a three-level retail podium. The adaptive reuse preserves the neighborhood’s distinctive character while engaging the vibrant street edge, ensuring that history remains a living part of the urban fabric.
Operational Details: The New Urban Verticality
Rising above the restored structure, a G+17 contemporary tower accommodates 14 open-plan boutique office floors with generous 11.6 ft ceilings. The design language—featuring slender structural columns, stone filigree screens, and recessed ribbon windows—draws inspiration from Mumbai’s Neo-Gothic heritage, merging traditional aesthetics with advanced climate-responsive performance.
Strategic Significance: Sustainability through Adaptive Reuse
Aiming for LEED Platinum certification, Turner House exemplifies how adaptive reuse and passive design strategies can drive sustainable urban redevelopment. Beyond preserving cultural identity, the project advances a forward-thinking model for performance-driven, context-responsive architecture in Mumbai’s evolving skyline.
