Oklahoma City is set to make architectural history with the approval of Legends Tower, poised to become the tallest skyscraper in the United States. The Oklahoma City Council has officially granted the project unlimited height, allowing the development team to redefine the city’s skyline.
AO, the architecture firm leading the project, confirmed that they are teaming up with real estate developers Matteson Capital to bring the ambitious tower to life in the vibrant Bricktown District. “We are grateful that the City Council has embraced our vision to transform Oklahoma City into a global destination,” AO said in a statement.
Record-Breaking Heights
Legends Tower will reach 1,907 feet, honoring the year Oklahoma became the 46th state in 1907. By comparison, the current tallest building in the U.S., One World Trade Center, stands at 1,776 feet, while the world’s tallest, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, rises to 2,716.5 feet. Once completed, Legends Tower will rank as the fifth tallest building in the world.
The project includes three additional 345-foot structures, forming part of the larger Boardwalk at Bricktown development, which spans five million square feet across three acres.
Mixed-Use and Community-Oriented Design
The development will feature a vibrant retail and restaurant scene with over 110,000 square feet of space. Residential offerings include 1,776 units, ranging from affordable housing to luxury condos. The project’s prime location along the Bricktown Canal and Oklahoma River ensures connectivity and appeal for residents and visitors alike.
Surrounding Growth
Oklahoma City is currently experiencing a construction boom. A $41 million multipurpose stadium is set to begin in 2025 adjacent to the Boardwalk, and a $900 million arena—future home of the Oklahoma City Thunder—is planned nearby.
Construction on Legends Tower will follow the initial phases of the Boardwalk project, marking a transformative moment for the city’s urban landscape and signaling a new era of architectural innovation in the U.S.
